Today i spent all my day being a bum.I got up in the morning,and i bummed a little...then kept on bumming till afternoon.I did some reading on Greek Gods...As i lay on my bed,i heard the rain splatter against the window..I lay still,with Prometheus giving fire to mankind...to Athena,transforming Archadia,to a Spider..It was lot of fun.
Then i discovered this poet,Wallace Stevens.My friend suggested this to me,so that i stop being a bored bum,and be little productive.I asked my friend to come over my place.She refused,because in that case there will be a unison of two bums,which should be avoided highly.
Wallace Stevens,i disliked a little.,it was well,not coping with my need,poetry craving,until i realized that each line has a clever allusion.Gee.I figured it out.Stevens made me want more kungpao chicken,than i usually do.
So.folks..i need stop bumming now.But before i end my post,and get back to some serious writing This may not happen because i am very sleepy and i wonder do bums sleep?? Jokes apart let me share with you one of Stevens poems..
Gray Room (1917)
Although you sit in a room that is gray,
Except for the silver
Of the straw-paper,
And pick
At your pale white gown;
Or lift one of the green beads
Of your necklace,
To let it fall;
Or gaze at your green fan
Printed with the red branches of a red willow;
Or, with one finger,
Move the leaf in the bowl--
The leaf that has fallen from the branches of the forsythia
Beside you.
.
.
What is all this?
I know how furiously your heart is beating...
Doesn't make sense,in one reading...
The main thing that the poet wants to convey is that happiness lies in the smaller fragments of life.He gives a color gray to boredom experienced by the girl.The poem ends with a question"what is all this?"emphasizes the fact,that the character is not happy with her present life.The poet does not want this to happen in the readers life.He believes finding happiness in smaller things in life will help in life being colorful and eventually the shades of gray will disappear....
